Skiing in Wanaka - at three fabulous ski areas
In winter, Wanaka becomes a picturesque ski town, serving three ski fields -
Cardrona, which this year opens its wide family friendly and snowboard friendly pistes between 24 June and 10 October, is the most popular place to go skiing in Wanaka.
Treble Cone, offers the most challenging skiing in Wanaka and is the largest ski field in the South Island. It is steep, breathtakingly beautiful and usually uncrowded;
The Snow Farm offers Nordic skiing in Wanaka's Pisa range, and has a brilliantly designed new terrain park, high on a plateau wilderness.
All ski resorts in South Island are remote from the towns that serve them and skiing in Wanaka is no exception, with a 20 minute drive to the base of each mountain. However, with so much diversity the skiing in Wanaka is second to none.
